Construction begins at 633 S LaSalle

Looks like construction will finally begin on 633 S LaSalle.  Announced back in the summer of 2019, London-based The Collective has a permit to turn the parking lot at 633 South LaSalle Street into a 17-story co-living complex.  The Collective’s Chicago project will include a number of amenities including co-working space and bike parking, according to Curbed. Details about the number of living units have not been released. The original article can be found here: https://therealdeal.com/chicago/2019/06/03/co-living-developer-plans-17-story-complex-in-south-loop/amp/ I’m excited this development is continuing and I can’t wait to hear more details about it! Curious if it’s still co-living and how many units it’ll have.

Update on Chicago's first Casino

And we’re down to three.  The 78 megadevelopment, the Tribune Publishing Center and the One Central project site are all in the running to host Chicago’s first casino. Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s office announced Tuesday the list had been narrowed down from five locations to those three — kicking the Michael Reese megadevelopment and McCormick Place off the lists of potential spots. Lightfoot said the 78 plan, a Bally’s casino slated for the River West and a Hard Rock casino at the proposed One Central project site near Soldier Field best fit the city’s “core goals.” “Each proposal offers economic, employment, and equity-focused opportunities for Chicago, while simultaneously enhancing the city’s cultural, entertainment and architectural scenes with world-class amenities and design,” Lightfoot said in a press release. “Our teams look forward to heading into discussions with the finalists and getting one step closer to bringing this decades-long project to fruition.” City officials said Tues

White Palace Grill temporarily closed by the city.

Breaking News:  White Palace Grill located at 1159 S Canal St has been temporarily shut down by the City of Chicago.  @abc7chicago Writes:  The White Palace Grill has been shut down temporarily by the city over safety issues. According to the city, the popular 24-hour diner was closed for issues including no emergency lights, no working smoke detectors, expired fire extinguishers and water coming in through light fixtures. The restaurant announced the closure on its Facebook page Tuesday citing building violations but said it hoped to reopen soon. "White Palace is temporarily closed to address notices received about building violations," the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page. "We look forward to reopening soon and welcoming you back as soon as possible! Thank you for your business!" White Palace Grill has been open since 1939.
